Disney Movies

Nature is often portrayed as a space from which humans have become separated. In movies, when we “return” to nature, we will learn who we really are. In nature there is something primal and original that is diminished in the presence of other humans. People have a habit of getting lost or wandering into a forest in an animated Disney movie.

Tarzan shares his world with Jane (https://grantstevens.wordpress.com/2013/03/31/epic-disney-watchfest-12-peter-pan-and-tarzan-a-review-will-that-never-grow-old-and-if-it-does-it-will-be-a-gorilla/)

In the world of Disney, a friend can always be found in nature. Disney is known for anthropomorphizing animals. Tarzan would not have grown up in the jungle without first being accepted as an ape. In one tearful scene, young Tarzan angrily confronts that he is different from the apes, and his ape mother lovingly shows that they both have beating hearts.

These genres outside of animation often include the brave explorer or naive human who must overcome trials and tribulations. Indiana Jones is a character who must constantly overcome nature in exploiting its treasures.
